Dr Nobalanda Betty Mokoena is a senior scientific leader and biochemist with extensive experience in vaccine research, development, and commercialisation within the veterinary biotechnology sector. She currently serves as Acting Chief Scientific Officer and Acting R&D Viral Section Manager at Onderstepoort Biological Products (OBP), where she leads research strategy, quality assurance, and innovation initiatives.

She has a strong track record in translational research, taking vaccine concepts from early-stage development through to regulatory submission and commercialisation. Her expertise includes viral vaccine development, process optimisation, technology transfer, intellectual property management, and large-scale production integration.

Dr Mokoena is also an experienced mentor and academic supervisor, actively contributing to postgraduate training and research capacity development across multiple universities. She holds a PhD in Biochemistry and is currently pursuing a Master in Business Leadership to strengthen her executive leadership capabilities.
