Vaccines
- 2103 |
|
Freeze-dried, live attenuated virus ("KOMAROV"
type) for the immunisation of fowls and turkeys against
Newcastle disease. Store the vaccine
at a temperature of 4 °C to 8 °C, in a refrigerator.
Do not use after the expiry date printed on the bottle.
RECOMMENDATIONS FOR USE
Only healthy poultry must be vaccinated. The vaccine is
mainly recommended for use in small-scale
poultry systems for long-term protection against mortality
and drop in egg production resulting from
Newcastle disease. Young chickens at the age of one week
must be vaccinated, preferably with a mucous
membrane type vaccine (e.g. La Sota or B1 type). Two booster
injections with the Komarov type vaccine
must then be given at 4–5 weeks and 16–18
weeks of age.
If La Sota or B1 vaccine has not been given, there is
the danger that some birds may become lame or
paralysed.
It may be necessary to discuss vaccine programmes with
a veterinarian or the vaccine producer.
WARNINGS Do not slaughter fowls for
human consumption within 7 days of vaccination.
Vaccinate healthy animals only.
Keep out of reach of children, uninformed persons and
animals.
Not to be used in ostriches.
Although this product has been extensively tested under
a large variety of conditions, failure
thereof may ensue as a result of a wide range of reasons.
If this is suspected, seek veterinary
advice and notify the registration holder.
DIRECTIONS FOR USE
Use only as directed.
Sterilise syringes and needles by boiling in water for
at least 15 minutes. Do not use disinfectants or
methylated spirits for sterilising either syringes or
needles.
Transfer approximately 5,0 ml of the sterile diluent into
the bottle containing the freeze-dried vaccine
by means of a sterile syringe and mix thoroughly by shaking
gently until the powder is dissolved. Now
transfer this solution back to the bottle with the remaining
sterile diluent and mix well. The vaccine is
now ready for use. Keep cool and avoid exposure to high
temperatures and direct sunlight during
inoculation. Do not prepare more vaccine than can be used
within a period of two hours. DOSAGE:
0,2 ml intramuscularly EFFECTS OF THE
VACCINE
A small number of chickens may become paralised or lame,
or egg production may drop temporarily
if fowls are vaccinated at the wrong time e.g. if prior
immunity is lacking or has disappeared. Immunity
usually develops after one to two weeks and the duration
varies according to the vaccination programme.
If the programme, as laid down in this package insert
is followed, protection should be conferred in
laying hens for one production season. Immunity, however,
cannot be guaranteed in all fowls. PACKING
Available in bottles of 500 doses. |
