Formalinised, aluminium hydroxide gel adsorbed suspension
of Corynebacterium ovis for the immunisation of sheep
and goats against caseous lymphadenitis and lung abscesses
caused by Corynebacterium ovis. Store the
vaccine at a temperature of 4 °C to 8 °C, in a
refrigerator.
Do not use the vaccine after the expiry date printed on
the bottle.
RECOMMENDATIONS FOR USE
Several different organisms can cause abscesses in the
lymph nodes and lungs of sheep and goats. It
is therefore necessary to confirm by laboratory examination
that Corynebacterium ovis is the cause of
the disease. On farms where caseous lymphadenitis and
lung abscesses frequently occur, sheep and
goats should be vaccinated for the first time at the age
of two weeks or older and should receive two
inoculations at an interval of four weeks. The immune
response lasts for two to three months and animals
should therefore be immunised shortly before the period
of expected exposure. WARNINGS
Do not slaughter animals for human consumption within
7 days of vaccination.
Vaccinate healthy animals only.
Keep out of reach of children, uninformed persons and
animals.
Animals should not be driven over long distances immediately
before and after vaccination.
Although this product has been extensively tested under
a large variety of conditions, failure
thereof may ensue as a result of a wide range of reasons.
If this is suspected, seek veterinary
advice and notify the registration holder.
DIRECTIONS FOR USE
Use only as directed.
Sterilise syringes and needles by boiling in water for
at least 15 minutes. Do not use disinfectants or
methylated spirits for sterilising either syringes or
needles. Use a separate sterile needle for each animal.
Shake the bottle well before use. Avoid exposure to high
temperatures and direct sunlight during
inoculation. DOSAGE: 2 ml subcutaneously.
EFFECTS OF THE VACCINE
There is practically no general reaction following vaccination.
A small local swelling may develop at
the site of injection and animals usually exhibit slight
lameness for a day or two.
Immunity, which develops two weeks after vaccination,
lasts for approximately two to three months but,
however, cannot be guaranteed in all animals. Application
of the vaccine alone will not effectively
control abscessation. A veterinarian should be consulted
with respect to other control measures. PACKING
Available in bottles of 50 doses. |
