Formalinised aluminium hydroxide gel
adsorbed toxoid of Clostridium botulinum types C and
D for the
immunisation of cattle, horses, mules, sheep and goats
against botulism.
Store the vaccine at a temperature of 4 °C to 8
°C, in a refrigerator.
Do not use the vaccine after the expiry date printed
on the bottle.
RECOMMENDATIONS FOR USE
Botulism (lamsiekte) is caused by the toxin of the organism
known as Clostridium botulinum which is
present in the decomposing carcasses of animals, birds,
etc. If the grazing is deficient in phosphorus,
cattle will satisfy a craving by eating the old bones
of decomposed carcasses and thus develop botulism.
The vaccine will protect animals against the botulinum
toxin, but is not a substitute for the supplementary
feeding of phosphorus.
Animals that have not previously been immunised
should be given 2 injections of the vaccine at
an interval of 4 - 7 weeks. Thereafter they are given
only one injection annually.
The second injection is very important for better immunity.
WARNINGS
Do not slaughter animals for human consumption
within 7 days of vaccination.
Vaccinate healthy animals only.
Keep out of reach of children, uninformed persons and
animals.
Although this product has been extensively tested under
a large variety of conditions, failure
thereof may ensue as a result of a wide range of reasons.
If this is suspected, seek veterinary
advice and notify the registration holder.
